Description

The Benkovac winery was built in 1956-1957, following the models of existing wineries in the south of France.
Vinarija Benkovac became really famous only in 2005, when new vineyards were planted in Korlat near Benkovac on an area of 103 hectares with 530,000 vines.
The vineyard includes a range of Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc i Mourvèdre.

– Gold medal in 2011 at the Vinitaly in Verona
– Gold medal in 2011 at the Concours mondial de Bruxelles.

Tasting notes:

Deep dark red with purple rim in the glass. Intense nose, spicy aromas, blackberry notes as well as black raisins. On the palate complex, notes of coffee, dark chocolate, tobacco. Balanced and long finish.

Grape variety: Syrah.
Aging: oak barrels.
Closure: Natural cork.
Serving temperature: 18°C.

An ideal companion to game dishes, roast beef, soft cheeses as well as fruit desserts.
